It was January 2003 when I first met Samson Vincent.  A brother and I were touring Haiti for the first time in search of an orphanage.  We wanted to find an established home that we could help support.  Driving through Haiti without a guide did not prove to be one of the wisest things I’ve ever done.  I could write a book about the trip, however it will suffice to say that I was robbed, by nine armed men,  of all of my possessions.  The car, my clothes, and ID were returned but I had no money and no gas in the vehicle.

We were on the far side of Gonaives, getting away from the action, when I was compelled to stop and try and talk with some folks.  Samson and his wife Dina were house parents at the children’s home where I stopped.  They took care of us, meeting all of our needs until they put us on the plane back to the USA.  We have been very good friends and brothers in Jesus since that God-appointed meeting.

I’ve come to know Samson as a brother of exceptional character.  He has a deep a love for the Lord Jesus and His works.  I’ve watched and even marveled at the compassion and generosity he shows toward mankind.  There is not a selfish bone in him and I am humbled to be his friend and help him with his vision of establishing Hearts of Hope Haiti.

In His Service,
